I am a multimedia artist, photographer and filmmaker with a BFA in Painting and Photography from Ontario Colledge of Art University and an MFA in Documentary Film from Toronto Metropolitan University (former Ryerson University).

I discovered my love for photography at 16 y.o. when digital cameras were not yet a thing. I spent many years in the darkroom developing chemical prints well into my full-time photography career. Eventually, shooting/processing film and chemical printing became unpractical, given the advancement of digital technologies. But I always kept my interest in analogue photography. Recently I've returned to working with historical and alternative photography practices, enjoying the slowness of the process, witnessing the wonder of the chemical reactions happening before my eyes, and feeling the joy again of working with my hands and away from the screen. It helped me tremendously with my mental and physical health!

I now share this renewed passion for art by teaching Cyanotype workshops in the Great Vancouver area.

Many people have never heard, seen or know about the Cyanotype photographic process, and I'll be happy to tell you many fascinating things about it.

Cyanotype (from Ancient Greek κυάνεος - kuáneos, "dark blue" + τύπος - túpos, "mark, impression, type") is a 19th-century photographic process that requires no camera. All that is needed are watercolour paper coated with cyanotype chemical solution, sun for exposure, water for developing the print, and the object you'll be printing (in this case, flowers or plants, all of which I will provide).

The Introductory Cyanotype Workshop starts with a short lecture about the history of the process, and a demonstration, after which you are provided with materials to try it yourself or with your child, who I am sure, would also be intrigued by this tactile practice. This workshop takes place in the summer/early fall at a park near my home, in a beautiful setting on the banks of the river. You will walk away with several lovely Prussian-blue prints at the end!
